Yarnell, a landscape worth painting
A town of about 650 people, Yarnell is mostly made up of retirees looking for solitude and a picturesque landscape. “It’s a very artistic small town,” says Rose Gowen, a Realtor with Keller Williams Arizona Realty. “It’s secluded out there. You have people who paint. The scenery is so bright and wonderful. It’s a great canvas.” Yarnell has a downtown area and a hilly residential section called Glen Illah. Plus, it's at an elevation where all four seasons can be experienced.

Room for adventures in Yarnell
The Weaver Mountains, about 2 miles west of Yarnell, offer scenic hikes and multiple memorial plaques for resting and honoring those who have passed. Quartz Mountain National Forest is about 30 miles from the neighborhood and is good for hiking, biking and horseback riding. There is also public and private land around Yarnell that is used for various recreational activities. “It’s an area for hiking, horseback riding, 4-wheeling and jeep adventures,” says Gowen. “It’s just open land, and there’s a lot of hills around.” Yarnell Hill Fire Memorial Park honors the memory of 19 firefighters who lost their lives during a 2013 wildfire. The park has a small walking path, commemorative sign and benches.

Model Creek Elementary School is the only school in Peeples Valley.

Getting around Yarnell
U.S. Route 89 is the primary route through Yarnell and leads 33 miles northeast to Prescott. It also goes 90 miles southeast to Phoenix and the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. The Wickenburg Community Hospital is 24 miles south of the neighborhood.
Highway 89 is the main road in and out of Yarnell.

Yarnell has antique shops and a couple of restaurants
Yarnell is known for its antique stores like the Yarnell Emporium and the Painted Lizard, which sometimes sell work from local artists. In the heart of downtown Yarnell, Gilligans Pizza & Bar offers bar food in a casual setting and hosts off-roading events and poker tournaments. The Ranch House at Yarnell is on the area’s south side and has a quirky interior with framed pictures, cutting boards and knick-knacks hanging from the walls. For groceries, Safeway is 25 miles south in Wickenburg.

Community center and seasonal events in Yarnell
The Yarnell Regional Community Center hosts regular events, has a thrift store and offers community programs like Meals on Wheels. Events include the Yarnell Spring Festival, which happens every spring. The festival hosts a pancake breakfast and an arts and crafts show. The Mountain View Art Show happens every November and features works from local artists. Giddy Up, a Wild West comedy show, also happens in November and features sketches, music and a best western-dressed contest.
