Silver Lakes
Active community association
With 39 subdivisions, the SilverLakes Community Association does its best to keep everyone engaged. Raffles, events and competitions, with prizes awarded, are held frequently. Whether it’s a simple trivia question about the area or a holiday decorating contest involving everybody, there’s always something going on. Some events unite the community, like happy hour events at the Silver Lake Sports Grill on 180th Avenue or the annual pumpkin patch event with hayrides and live music. At some events, residents donated non-perishable food items to area food pantries. Pooches in Pines is a non-profit that works to reunite lost dogs with their owners and find a new home for surrendered or stray pups. Residents and their four-legged friends enjoy gelatos and doggy treats at Silver Lakes Community Park to raise funds for the organization.1990s housing
SilverLakes was developed in the early 1990s, and most houses are from that decade. Mediterranean and Spanish-style homes are prominent, with three to five bedrooms, over 2,000 square feet and a two-car attached garage. Homeowners Association fees are in addition to the home price, typically from $130 to $250 monthly. Fees pay for maintenance of common areas, access to a community pool, clubhouse and security. Some townhouses within the community are at the lower end of the $500,000 to $900,000 price range. “It would be tough to get a house under $450,000,” Frankovic says. Ninety-two percent of the people in Silver Lakes own their homes.
