Northwest Pompano
Suburban Neighborhood in Pompano Beach, Florida
Broward County 33069

Gathering place for the community
Hunters Manor Park is the literal center of the housing section of Northwest Pompano, between Andrews Avenue and Powerline Road. There are plenty of picnic opportunities, with pavilion shelters and grills, a paved walking or biking path, playground, as well as basketball, tennis and volleyball courts. In 2021, Hunters Manor Park was the site of a fall festival featuring a lineup of R&B singers. It was extremely popular, and subsequent festivals were held at the larger Pompano Beach Community Park a few miles to the east. These days, occasional concerts are held at Hunters Manor, including the Smooth Sounds Soiree jazz concert series in the spring.
60 years of Southern BBQ
A favorite place for ribs has been a neighborhood staple since 1964. The exterior of McMillon’s Bar-B-Que has an old-time look. They’re only open Thursday through Saturday and serve southern-style barbecue and burgers on thick, toasted slices of bread instead of the traditional bun. Located within the former Pompano State Farmers Market is Dimitris Farmers Market Restaurant, which is open until 2 p.m. seven days a week and serves breakfast and lunch. Inside the 1930s building is a classic diner-style layout with wooden benches and tables in the middle.A mix of old and new
There’s an older housing stock in Northwest Pompano, with much of it dating to the 1950s and ‘60s. However, there’s some new construction going on as well. “That says a lot for this neighborhood,” says Grayson Adler, a Realtor and managing broker with First Florida Realty with about ten years of real estate experience. “When you have that sort of spread, it shows that the entire focus of the neighborhood is not on the revitalization of existing homes.” The price range goes from $300,000 to $500,000, with a handful under $300,000 advertised as investment property. “When you look at Broward County, this neighborhood has many houses lower than the $575,000 median price. Fixer-uppers are out there. It’s a good neighborhood for first-time homebuyers and those wanting a DIY challenge,” Adler says.
Surrounded by commuter options
Northwest Pompano is next to Interstate 95 to the east and not far from Florida’s Turnpike to the west. Broward County Transit has bus stops on Martin Luther King Boulevard, Powerline Road and Atlantic Boulevard. The Cypress Creek and Pompano Beach commuter Tri-Rail stations are 3 miles in different directions. Cypress Creek is to the southeast, and the Pompano Beach station is the same distance northeast.Schools within the sixth-largest district in the country
Public schools that serve the Northwest Pompano neighborhood include those in the Broward County School District. C. Robert Markham Elementary School serves children through fifth grade with a C on Niche. Crystal Lake Middle School students can explore different clubs and organizations to participate in which to participate, including the debate club, which meets and challenges students from other area schools. Blanche Ely High School is rated a C-plus on Niche. The Broward County School District is ranked a B-plus overall and is the sixth-largest school district in the country.
