The not-so-hidden community of Hidden Lake
Hidden Lake is a small but well-rooted community, found on the fringes of Port Orange – which is still quite close to the city center, just 3 miles away. With most houses having been constructed in the mid to late 20th century, it's one of the older neighborhoods compared to the strikingly new ones around it. "Port Orange is growing a lot – moreso than I think we were ready for," says Linda Lee, a Realtor with ERA Grizzard Real Estate and Port Orange local of nearly 20 years. "A lot of builders and developers will try to keep in mind what's affordable for people. I'm sure in 15 years, it'll look different right now, but being on the outskirts of Port Orange, you'll get a little more space and lower prices." Hidden Lake is one such 'outskirt neighborhood,' but residents don't miss out on any events or necessities of Port Orange because of how tightly interwoven the city and its neighborhoods are.

Entry-level pricing and classic architecture
Throughout the neighborhood, blooming bushes and mature oak trees line the sidewalks adjacent to ranch-style homes, primarily built in the 80s, which feature open floor plans. Single and double-wide manufactured homes are also prevalent throughout the community. "We rarely have open lots – putting down manufactured homes has always been popular," Lee says. "It used to be we couldn't keep a house on the market for more than 24 hours, but that's calmed down a little. Besides, homes anywhere in the 200,000s are few and far between. Low 400s are more common. Areas like this are a little more affordable for folks." Some homes have water views from the community lake, and the prevalence of solar panels lowers residents' utility bills. Older ranch homes can sell between $270,000 and $300,000, while renovated properties or newer construction sell between $300,000 and $390,000.

It supports youth and adult sports leagues, and the connecting building of ArtHaus provides locals with art activities and classes.
