The Riverview neighborhood sits right on the St Lucie River, with plenty of outdoor amenities.
A river runs through it
Situated on the banks of the St. Lucie River, the Riverview neighborhood pairs a scenic location with plentiful outdoor amenities, nearby retail and dining options and easy highway access to create a residential oasis in one of South Florida’s fastest-growing cities. In fact, Port St. Lucie was voted the 63rd best place to live by U.S. News & World Report in 2013, with the magazine citing the area’s diversity and quality of life as major positive factors. And Riverview offers residents proximity to the best the city has to offer. “What draws people to Riverview is the location,” says Tiffany Graves, a native of the area who currently lives in Riverview and has been representing real estate transactions for nearly a decade. “It’s got easy access to Crosstown Parkway, which gets you to downtown in just a few minutes and it also connects with Interstate 95 nearby.”
The great outdoors
Given its proximity to the river, it’s not surprising that one of Riverview’s primary appeals for residents is the opportunity to get out and enjoy nature. Whether it’s boating, hiking, birdwatching, fishing or just taking in the view, those living here love to be outdoors. “The St. Lucie River is absolutely beautiful,” says Graves. “There are live oaks that hang over the water, and there are manatees and all types of birds. Herons, spoonbills and egrets all live in the area. And the river also gives you direct access to the ocean. It’s a 15- or 20-minute boat ride to the Atlantic.” And multiple public boat ramps throughout the neighborhood make it easy to get out on the water.
One of those boat ramps can be found at River Park Marina, an island park that features a playground, multiple picnic pavilions with grills, hiking trails and fishing piers. Riverview is also home to Sportsman’s Park, which doubles as an outdoor gym for residents. Featuring a state-of-the-art outdoor fitness center, Sportsman’s Park offers visitors stationary bikes, elliptical cross trainers and areas for calisthenics and stretching. All of that is in addition to a playground, a tennis court, a basketball court and multiple baseball diamonds. Other small parks throughout the neighborhood offer residents ample opportunities to sit and relax in the Florida sunshine to take a break from work or a day of running errands.

Other retailers in the area include Petco, Ross, Home Goods and Academy Sports + Outdoors. “Port St. Lucie, in general, has a small-town feel. But at the same time, everything you need from a big-city perspective is easy to go to,” says Graves.
When dining out is on the menu, Riverview residents are close to the current must-visit restaurant in town, according to Graves: “Right now, THE spot in town is Casa Amigos,” she says. “Everyone loves it.” Casa Amigos Authentic Mexican Restaurant’s popularity is due in no small part to its extensive margarita menu, not to mention traditional Mexican cuisine ranging from street tacos and elotes (grilled Mexican street corn) to hearty enchiladas and fajitas.
