Raisinville Township offers a rural life by the river
Raisinville Township is named after its river, which earned its moniker from the tangles of wild grapes that once grew along its banks. Home to family farms, agriculture has been at the heart of life here since before Michigan became a state. "The biggest draw is the rural community," says Jacob Levicki of eXp Realty LLC – Monroe, who was born and raised near the township. He says homebuyers are drawn to the seclusion, peace of mind and not having other houses an arm’s length away. He also notes that pricing mirrors nearby farming communities such as Ida, Petersburg, Dundee and Ottawa Lake. "In most cases, local buyers typically stick to the community they grew up in. So, mainly generational buyers." Casual fishing spots, woods to get lost in and cleared farmland replace a formal park system. Next door, the city of Monroe has most amenities, making it possible for residents to set up a homestead convenient to city limits. The township has a CAP Index Crime Score of 1 out of 10, lower than the national average of 4.

A countryside filled with traditional homes and acreage properties
A patchwork of family farms, open spaces and woodlots forms the township's landscape. Ranch-style homes and farmhouse styles are common. The oldest houses date back to 1900, and the newest are from the last few years. "It's predominantly the county roads that people live on," Levicki says. "There are the occasional neighborhoods, but not very many." Some properties skirt the river's edge where deer and wild turkeys are familiar sights. "Wells are very common in Raisinville Township. Wells and a septic tank system," Levicki says. Home prices range from around $155,000 to $315,000 for modest residences and fixer-uppers. Larger, newer or recently updated homes range from $330,000 to $550,000. Lot sizes also figure in, with some homes on 20 acres or more.
Rural ranch homes compromise much of the city of Raisinville.

Places to launch a kayak on the River Raisin and snowmobile in winter
The River Raisin meanders through the township. River Raisin Access and River Raisin Canoe Livery, a popular campground, provides fishing spots and launch points for kayakers. Snowmobiling and ice fishing are common winter pastimes. "As far as the snowmobiles go, all of the fields are harvested, so it's a lot of flat open ground that people ride on," Levicki says. "Most farmers are receptive to that and fine with it. I've never heard of anyone getting into trouble." He adds that the local golf courses are popular. And when people want traditional parks with playgrounds and athletic facilities, they head into the nearby cities of Monroe, Ida, Dundee and Maybee. William C. Sterling State Park is around 12 miles away for a swimming, fishing and boating day on Lake Erie.

Monroe is a short drive away, with conveniences such as a Walmart Supercenter and Lowe's Home Improvement. The city has familiar chains like Culver's and Chick-fil-A, and beloved local spots like The Clamdigger, where guests dock up and dine by the river.

Locals look forward to the annual Monroe County Fair
The Monroe County Fair is a highlight of the year, held at the fairgrounds less than 6 miles from the township. "It's very well known for its 4-H programs, but they also put on concerts and demolition derbies. All the fair stuff. Tractor pulls," Levicki says. "And it's covered with food trucks."
Highway and public transit options
Michigan 50 runs through Raisinville Township, providing a route to Monroe. Interstate 75 and U.S. 23 are within a short drive, granting direct access to Detroit in less than 50 miles and Toledo in less than 30 miles.
