Connected to greater Rockford via State Street
Jackson Oaks’ primary thoroughfare, East State Street, connects the neighborhood to downtown Rockford to the west and additional residential areas to the immediate east. Residents are about 2 miles east of the city center and 90 miles northwest of Chicago. For local public transit needs, Rockford Mass Transit District (RMTD) provides stops along Rural Street on the north side and Ninth and State street on the south side. The nearest hospital, UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital, is immediately south of the neighborhood on State Street. For travel beyond the Rockford area, Chicago Rockford International Airport is 6 miles south.

Most outings in town are a short drive or bus ride away for most residents. One block away, the Rue Marche offers regular drink specials and karaoke nights. To the north at Sinnissippi Park, local bands take the stage at the Sinnissippi Park Music Shell each summer.
