East Saint Cloud combines space, value and convenience near Orlando

East Saint Cloud, located in Osceola County, reflects the expansion of Saint Cloud, one of Florida’s fastest-growing cities. Located just east of East Lake Tohopekaliga, this community offers newer homes—mostly built after 2000—on larger lots at lower prices than nearby areas. “We’re a suburb of Orlando,” says Realtor Matt MacNab with Olympus Executive Realty, who specializes in selling homes in Central Florida. “We’re still close to the attractions and theme parks Orlando has to offer, as well as Melbourne and Cocoa Beach, so it’s the best of both worlds.”

Larger lots and new homes at affordable prices

Most of East Saint Cloud’s housing boom stems from population growth and strong demand. “There are several new construction developments,” MacNab says. “It’s more affordable than communities farther north, and property sizes are usually bigger for the price.” The community’s median lot size is around 8,700 square feet, while the average square footage for a single-family home is about 2,200. Throughout East Saint Cloud, houses are spaced apart from their neighbors, and palm and southern magnolia trees dot grassy front lawns. Single-story New Traditional or ranch-style houses typically range from $200,000 to $400,000. Two-story New Traditional homes with Craftsman- or Mediterranean-style architectural influences can cost $420,000 to $750,000; many were built in 2025 and typically have at least three bedrooms and two bathrooms. Waterfront properties or large homes with modern designs, such as boxy facades with sleek lines, may sell for $750,000 to $980,000. Undeveloped plots of land are also available.

East Lake Tohopekaliga and nearby parks provide outdoor escapes

The nearly 12,000-acre East Lake Tohopekaliga lies just west. This popular outdoor destination is mostly used for boating, bass fishing and waterfront strolls. Lakefront Park rests on its southern shores and offers a variety of ways to access the water, including a sandy beach, marina, fishing pier and boat ramp. There’s also a playground, splash pad, bike path and volleyball court. Under the shade of live oak trees, Ralph V. Chisholm Regional Park, on the lake’s east banks, also provides access to the lake via a beach and lighted boat ramp, as well as a playground, hiking trails, a volleyball area and a softball field. There are several smaller lakes in East Saint Cloud, including Lake Runnymede, with the Lake Runnymede Conservation Area on its northern banks. Here, visitors can wander through more than 40 acres of undeveloped wetlands and upland hardwood forests. Nearby Lake Lizzie Conservation Area features 11 miles of hiking trails. Golf courses within a 15-mile drive include Harmony Golf Preserve, Royal St. Cloud Golf Links and Eagle Creek Golf Club. “Golf is very important to people around here,” MacNab says.

Zoned for Osceola schools with choice and magnet programs

Students are zoned for the Osceola School District. They can attend Harmony Community School, which Niche ranks as the best public elementary school in the county, as well as Harmony Middle School and Harmony High School. All three receive B’s from Niche. The high school’s engineering program prepares students for STEM fields. Osceola County offers school choice through magnet programs, controlled open enrollment and out-of-district transfers. Seats are assigned via lottery when demand exceeds capacity, with late applicants placed on a waitlist and priority given to in-district students.

Grocery stores, pharmacies and restaurants are easy to reach

While East Saint Cloud is primarily residential, everyday essentials are concentrated around the intersection of Route 192 and South Narcoossee Road. In this area, there’s a Walgreens pharmacy, Winn-Dixie and Publix grocery stores, gas stations and restaurants—from fast food chains like Taco Bell to sit-down spots like Osaka Sushi. Farther east, more dining options line gridded streets in Saint Cloud’s core. Granny’s Southern Smokehouse is a go-to for barbecue, The Cup Diner serves American classics and Crabby Bill’s offers seafood with lakefront views. On the far west of Saint Cloud, about 10 miles away, there are big-box stores like Walmart Supercenter, The Home Depot and Big Lots. Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital is in the same area, while Lake Nona Medical City is about 15 miles away.

Theme parks and beaches are within an hour’s drive

East Saint Cloud is near some of Central Florida's top attractions. Walt Disney World, Disney Springs, Universal Studios and SeaWorld are less than a 40-mile drive away. The sandy shores of Cocoa Beach and Melbourne are about 45 miles east.

Major roads connect East Saint Cloud to Kissimmee and Orlando

Route 192 and Naracoossee Road, major roadways in the area, run through East Saint Cloud. These routes, along with Florida’s Turnpike, Canoe Creek Road and Old Canoe Creek Road, carry most local and commuter traffic toward Kissimmee, about 15 miles away, and Orlando, about 40 miles away. Because many residents commute for work, rush-hour congestion is common, and ongoing projects like turnpike widening and road expansions can add delays—even though they aim to improve traffic flow over the long term. For air travel, Orlando International Airport is about 25 miles away.
