Stone Oak is a tree-covered residential neighborhood with gated communities and access to amenities like highly-rated schools, parks and dining. “People in these communities have everything from trails to parks to playgrounds, with lots of it in walking distance too,” says Christian Lezama, a local Realtor with Broll & Associates. Each gated community also has 24-hour security. Originally built as a far suburb, the city has grown up around the neighborhood providing some of the most desirable homes in the area. This combined with its location in the Texas Hill Country and its luxurious amenities, makes Stone Oak one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in San Antonio.

Stone Oak homes are most commonly two-story brick houses that range in price from $315,000 to $2,250,000. Homes are anywhere from 1,800 to 5,700 square feet in size and sit on 6,000 to 26,000 square foot lots. There is often new construction in each of the gated communities as well as new gated communities being built, but the majority of the homes were built in the eighties and nineties. Design characteristics include small front porches, large windows, archways and mixed material facades with any combination of brick, stone and stucco. The more expensive homes have additional amenities like pools and stunning views. Sidewalks make it easy to stroll through Stone Oak and greet the neighbors, and the occasional local sculpture adds additional character to the shady scenery.

Though it may be a three-hour drive, history buffs will delight in visiting the Alamo, a historic Spanish mission and fortress compound founded in the 18th century by Roman Catholic missionaries. North East Independent School District
Students in Stone Oak can attend Stone Oak Elementary, which received an A rating from Niche and serves about 850 students with a student-teacher ratio of 15 to 1. Bush Middle School also received an A rating from Niche and offers a robotics program to its 8th-grade students who are encouraged to apply real-world concepts and participate in competitions. Reagan High School received an A-plus rating from Niche and has close to 100 clubs and student organizations to choose from. The high school is also regularly ranked among the Best High Schools by U.S. News.

Stone Oak is only 17 miles north of downtown San Antonio and 10 miles north of the San Antonio International Airport.
