A mix of small, historic bungalows and contemporary new builds sits snugly along oak-lined streets in Cann Park, a suburban neighborhood in Savannah. The community is about two miles from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and about 3 miles from downtown Savannah. “It’s a fantastic location for SCAD students whose parents are looking to buy and lease out the rooms, or first-time homebuyers, or if you’re downsizing and want something a little smaller that’s historic,” says Joel Solomon, a Realtor with Century 21 Solomon Properties who has been selling homes in the area for 15 years.

A combination of older bungalows, cottages and Foursquares sit side by side with newer-built Foursquares and New Traditional homes. Older bungalows and cottages range from $149,000 to $339,000. Older Foursquares range in price from $260,000 to $575,000 for homes that have been entirely renovated. “There’s a lot of revitalization in that area,” says Solomon. “A lot of new construction and a lot of renovations.” Newer construction houses, usually Foursquare or New Traditional, range in price from $165,000 to $505,000. Some homes have detached garages or carports, but most properties simply have a driveway. Street parking also is common. Sidewalks are scattered throughout, and properties often sit close together.

Nearby Savannah College of Art and Design
Students can begin their education at Sarah Mills Hodge Elementary School, which is graded a C by Niche. Derenne Middle School earns a C-minus and has a student-teacher ratio of 11-to-1. Alfred Ely Beach High School earns a C and offers a college preparatory curriculum to students. The school also has a variety of athletics. All three schools are within walking distance of Cann Park, with Beach High School just west of the neighborhood. SCAD is a private art school founded in 1978. The school has six galleries, four of which are located in Savannah.
Derenne Middle School serves 496 students in grades 6-8.

Cann Park athletic facilities and walking path in Myers Park
There are two parks within the neighborhood. On the west side is Cann Park, which covers a little over 2 acres and has two separate playgrounds for children. The park has a green space with paved paths surrounding the area. Smaller than Cann Park, Myers Park is a few blocks northeast and offers a gazebo in the middle of paved paths. Under the cover of trees draped with Spanish moss are some benches and a bit of green space. Forsyth Park is one of the more popular parks in the city, sometimes serving as a venue for city events. The park is home to a Civil War Monument, a small garden and some athletic fields. There are multiple beaches along the Atlantic Ocean about 20 miles from the neighborhood.

Shop and dine in the nearby Starland District
Family Dollar, Salvation Army Thrift Store and McDonald’s sit within Cann Park. Jamaican restaurant Island Breeze and Bobo Seafood Market are just outside the neighborhood. About a mile away, along Bull Street is a variety of locally owned businesses, including Starland Yard, an outdoor food-truck court. Stuffed with records, pop culture references and animals that have been taxidermized, Graveface Records & Curiosities is the only curated record shop in Savannah. Starlandia Art Supply reclaims old art supplies and repurposes them to sell alongside new supplies. There are also several clothing boutiques. About 4 miles south is the Oglethorpe Mall and a Kroger Marketplace.

The neighborhood sits next to West Victory Drive, or U.S. Route 80. Interstate 16 and auxiliary Interstate 516 are nearby. Chatham Area Transit runs a few buses along the edges of Cann Park. There are two hospitals, Memorial Health University Medical Center and Candler Hospital, within 3 miles.
Savannah offers dozens of events throughout the year

The Savannah Christmas Market runs through the month of December and Enmarket Savannah Bridge Run has three different types of races: a 5K, 10K and a 15K over the Talmadge Memorial Bridge.
