Bustling northern suburb of Cincinnati
Sharonville is a northern suburb of Cincinnati with a history of being a regional destination of sorts for large-scale employers and major events ranging from presidential campaign visits to conventions that have brough in actors who played in the Walking Dead and hit Hollywood horror flicks. Over the years, the city has undertaken great efforts to boost its appeal to residents and visitors. Recent work has included the completion of a $2 million town square project to add more community oriented amenities in its downtown area and an expansion of its renowned convention center’s main space. “We have a lot of options for a plethora of people. We have a thriving business community, a convention center – which is just a gem of ours – a recreation center that is immensely attended by the people in town. We’re also an easy location. From here, you can be in downtown Cincinnati in 20 minutes. You can be anywhere you want to.” says Sharonville Councilman Glen Lovitt. “Our community’s very friendly to people who come into our community, and we’re also business friendly.” The companies with plants here include General Mills and Ford, the latter of which operates a transmission building facility in the city. The presence of these large-scale employers affects the scene during the week as the local population of about 15,000 can swell to around 60,000 people.

Suburban blocks with ranch-style homes and colonials
Neighborhood blocks can feature gently slopping roads with narrow sidewalks, smooth curbs and series of ranch-style homes and colonials in front of lush green and neatly trimmed lawns. Brick exteriors are highly common, but there are some structures with wood or mixed wood siding, as well. Price points for these homes and others borrowing some of their touches can go from the mid-$100,000s to the mid-$300,000s, with some of the larger builds on the higher end of that range. Price points, however, can be be influenced by the exact neighborhood and structure condition as there are some colonials or symmetric two-story houses with single-story garage wings that can go for under $200,000. And there also more modern multistory homes with some similar stylistic touches that can run from around $600,000 to over $1 million, with some of the newer or more recent builds found in the upper half of that range. Although its property owners pay county property taxes, Sharonville – unlike other surrounding localities, including Cincinnati – does not collect its own property tax.

Dining and entertainment downtown and in Northern Lights District
The downtown is centered around Reading Road and Main Street, which both run between rows of brick buildings housing a number of small businesses and institutions. Dining choices around here include New York style pizza at Roc-A-Fellas Pizza and gyros at the Athenian Restaurant. The alReddy’s Cafe serves meals like creme brulee French toast and a Buddha bowl based on a mix of quinoa and brown rice. The cafe also serves beverages ranging from smoothies and espressos to glasses of pinot grigio and cabernet sauvignon. The Chinese Imperial Inn is another institution here. “Their egg rolls are just ‘What in the heck are y’all doing?” Lovitt says in praise of the restaurant. Then those looking to just nurse a beer and catch the game can walk over to the Blue Goose Sports Cafe. The Northern Lights District near Interstate 75 is home to the Sharonville Convention Center and more than a dozen hotels. Flights of craft brews can be found here at the Third Eye Brewing Company. For shopping, there’s a Sam’s Club and Target off Interstate 275 just west of the city bounds.
