Concord
Concord's suburban farmland
The streetscapes of Concord vary by subdivision, contrasting between suburban neighborhoods and farmland estates. Large Craftsman homes and colonial revivals can be found within Shawnee Hills and surrounding the Scioto Reserve Country Club. Wide sidewalks border sprawling green lawns and local playgrounds. These homes sit close to one another and offer more than 2,500 square feet. Along Dublin Road, private driveways divide vast fields leading to hidden properties. Ranch-style homes and split levels are rare. Many have gravel driveways just off the main road. Across the board, homes vary in price from $500,000 to $700,000. New construction can reach more than $1 million, along with large vacant lots and equine estates.Three quality school districts
The greater Concord region links to several school districts, namely Olentangy, Delaware City and most prominently the Dublin City School District. Eli Pinney Elementary earns an A on Niche and achieves high test scores, partially attributed to its gifted program. Willard Grizell Middle earns an A+ on Niche, offering sports throughout the year like football, basketball and lacrosse. Dublin Jerome High provides a wide array of cultural, academic and volunteer service clubs. The school’s A+ on Niche correlates with its Advanced Placement programs, which 62% of students are enrolled in. Olentangy Liberty High has an A on Niche. Its performing arts department includes music boosters and a theater program. The Pickle Shack
The Pickle Shack is a draw for pickleball fans. Its indoor courts are open 24 hours a day and even feature an online shop for gear. Though the Scioto Reserve Country Club lacks pickleball, its pools, 18-hole golf course, fine dining and social events are highly sought after by the 1,400 homes surrounding it. The Leatherlips Yacht Club has been open since 1929, situated off the O’Shaughnessy Reservoir. Its clubhouse offers sailing lessons and club racing. Parks nearby include the O’Shaughnessy Nature Preserve and Glick Park, which overlooks the dam. Concord Township Park has courts, fields, walking paths and playgrounds.Classic American fare and buttermilk ice cream
Delaware Community Plaza is located 9 miles north of Concord, providing Kroger and Walmart. Boston Stoker Coffee Co. features a drive-thru just off County Road 126. Nearby, The Morgan House serves classic American cuisine. Open since 1985, the building is partially the historic home of a famed Civil War veteran. Its country store sells everything from clothing to scented candles. Third Base Pint House is a sports bar off Dublin Road with a food truck. And down the street, Dell’s Homemade Ice Cream and Coffee serves creamy buttermilk ice cream made in-house. “People also love Gabby’s Italian off 315,” Hammons says. “The pizza and stromboli are amazing.”Coastal thoroughfares 24 miles from Columbus
Route 257, Riverside Drive is a coastal thoroughfare along the east bank of the Scioto River. Residents can cross to the west bank via Route 42 to the north or Home Road to the south. Many restaurants and residences are located along Dublin Road, running parallel to Riverside Drive on the west bank. And Concord Road extends from the outskirts of Shawnee Hills to the northern end of Concord Township. The area sits 24 miles from Downtown Columbus, and 26 miles from John Glenn International Airport. Dublin and Delaware are both within an 11-mile radius. From pub crawls to seasonal flower picking
Downtown Dublin hosts a variety of events from the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade and Pub Crawl to the Independence Day Parade and firework show. FORE!Fest is a two-day street and music festival with food and vendors. Residents can stop by the Dublin Market while in town, open on Saturdays during the summer. “Downtown Delaware is pretty underrated, too,” Hammons says. “The nightlife is unbeatable.” Closer to home, Soine Vineyards Winery hosts wine tastings and dining with a view. And the Flower Farm on Chestnut Lane encourages seasonal flower picking, even growing pumpkins in the fall.
