South Harrison Township is a sprawling rural community in New Jersey’s Gloucester County. The New Jersey Legislature formed the township in the 1880s and became another facet of Gloucester County’s massively successful agricultural and industrial ventures. The township’s residential landscape is comprised mainly of single-family homes on large lots, with sweeping views of the surrounding countryside and a small collection of condominiums and townhouses. Tall but simple Colonial Revivals line Harrisonville Road, the township’s main thoroughfare, featuring covered front porches and plenty of yard space for cultivating a garden or playing lawn games. Elsewhere in the township, there are also single-story bungalows and ranch-style homes that offer similar amenities and spacious interiors, allowing homeowners to take advantage of every inch of living space. Public school students are served by South Harrison Township and Kingsway Regional school districts, beginning their academic careers at primary schools like South Harrison Township Elementary School.
