Convenient condos in Tinley Park's residential area
Life in Thies is proof that convenience and fun don’t have to be mutually exclusive. Situated just northwest of downtown Tinley Park, residents are strongly connected to the amenities of the village, with shopping, dining and straightforward commutes to Chicago all close at hand. “Out in Tinley it really is all about the strength of the municipality. There’s access to the city, strong schools, and there’s something for every time of year. It’s a full-scale, full-service community,” says Mike McCatty, a Realtor and team lead with McCatty and Associates at Century 21 Circle. McCatty has sold in the Chicago area since 1999 and has handled more than $1 billion in real estate sales.
Selected single-family houses are rare finds
Most of Thies' multi-family housing options are located in a condominium complex on the west end of the neighborhood. The buildings, established in the 1970s, have brick exteriors with steep-pitched roofs. Values generally hover between $125,000 and $155,000. While making up a larger chunk of the community, homes in Thies are rarer to find for sale compared to the area’s condo market. “There isn’t as much turnover. You get a lot of young families that get rooted and stay there, whether they keep the home they’ve had or they’re downsizing,” McCatty says. Traditional single-family homes round out the neighborhood’s inventory, including ranch-style properties, split-levels and homes with Colonial Revival influences. Brick and vinyl exteriors with asphalt roofs are common, and many properties were built over the course of the 20th century, from the 1930s through the 1990s. Estimated single-family home values generally fall between $295,000 and $410,000.
