Suburban living with mountain views east of Tucson
Carriage Park is a Tucson suburb with mountain views and multiple options for shopping and recreation. “It’s just spectacular out here,” says Kenneth L. Bertschy, president of Carriage Park’s neighborhood association. “We are surrounded by mountains, and living on the east side is a very comfortable experience. I've been here for 40 years and haven’t had a problem.” According to Bertschy, homes in the neighborhood are well-cared for. Many residents work for the nearby Davis-Monthan Air Force Base and the local city government.
Carriage Park homes with diverse price points
Though house hunters could find condos and townhouses in the neighborhood, most residences are single-family ranch-style homes with brick siding and low-sloping or flat roof lines. Many have thoughtfully xeriscaped yards, carports, sidewalks and a backdrop of the mountains. Homes are situated on winding neighborhood streets planned to accommodate numerous cul-de-sacs. Prices range from around $200,000, which could get a two-bedroom condo, to the mid-$600,000s, which gets you a home built in the last five years with more square footage.
Desert landscaping is most popular in Carriage Park in lieu of traditional grass lawns.
Residential streets are dramatically backdropped by the Rincon Mountains to the east.
Many homeowners pay homage to Carriage Park's rural history with decretive agricultural instals.

Shopping and dining options around Carriage Park
Most of the neighborhood is residential, but residents can find plenty of conveniences along its borders. In fact, there’s little need to go downtown, according to Bertschy. “Everything on the west side of town is pretty much duplicated here on the east side,” he says. Residents can head to the Walmart Neighborhood Market or Sprouts Farmers Market for groceries. Other nearby stores include The Home Depot, PetSmart, Kohl’s and Dollar Tree. For more shopping options, Park Place Mall is within 4 miles of most homes and offers stores like Dillard’s, Forever 21 and Chico’s. There are also plenty of places to grab a bite; fast food options include Wingstop, Church’s Texas Chicken and Eegee’s. Independent restaurant options Plazita México Café, a highly-rated family-owned restaurant that offers breakfast options like breakfast burritos and tamales served with eggs and beans. Dickman’s Meat and Deli is a popular butcher shop where you can build your own sandwich or take home high-quality cuts of beef, pork, chicken and more. For all other needs, residents can head to downtown Tucson, just 10 miles from home.
In addition to chain grocery stores, Carriage Park offers residents locally owned options.

Heading outdoors in Pima County
While there’s no park within the neighborhood that kids can walk to without crossing a major street, Jesse Owens Park is about a mile away and offers playground equipment, athletic fields and a public pool. Bikers or joggers will appreciate the neighborhood’s proximity to the Chuck Huckelberry Loop, often just called “The Loop,” which runs along the Pantano Wash. This trail system connects several parks and extends for more than 130 miles; there are multiple parking areas so residents can drive to the trail. Hikers aren’t too far from their next adventure; residents just need to hop on East Old Spanish Trail for about 6 miles to reach the nearest entrance to Saguaro National Park.
