Suburban living with convenience in East Warren
East Warren strikes a balance for those who want the convenience of city life without all the noise and traffic. Located 1.5 miles east of downtown Warren, the neighborhood is defined on the western side by the Warren reservoir and on the eastern side by the Massachusetts border. “That area is ideal for people who work in Massachusetts or Providence,” says Albert Hajdaraj, a real estate agent with Real Broker, LLC who lives in the area and has sold homes in Warren for 6 years. “But it’s still a more suburban area, close to the water.”
High demand for housing in East Warren
Most of the real estate in East Warren is concentrated at the northern end of the region. Unassuming colonials, bungalows and Cape Cod homes built in the early- to mid-1990s line up neatly on the streets. The grid-like layout of the streets minimizes traffic; however, on streets with shorter driveways, it’s common to see cars lining the already-narrow streets, posing difficulty to some pedestrians. In this area, a three-bedroom home will often sell for around $500,000. Further south along Waterview Lane, newly constructed Craftsman homes with more than 2,500 square feet and features like butler’s kitchens and recreation rooms sell for more than $1 million. While the new homes are spacious, they’re also limited. “There’s a lot of demand for housing in Warren, but there’s also a lot of farmland and regulations about where houses can be built, so there isn’t much new construction,” Hajdaraj says. “And very little that’s affordable.”
