Lake Forest
Midcentury homes, sometimes with a view
This mostly residential area is, by and large, filled with single-story bungalow-style homes built in the 1950s. Some houses have been upgraded or remodeled, and floor plans average 1,160 square feet. All properties here have yard space on lots between one-tenth and one-fifth of an acre. Some homes in the neighborhood are on the waterfront, lining the area’s Lake Helen and Lake Margaret, which are open to non-motorized boating. Houses in Lake Forest sell for between $300,000 and $525,000 — the higher prices can come with options that have been renovated or that have extras like inground pools.Bravo Supermarket is at quick reach
Many Lake Forest residents are within walking distance of conveniences like Bravo Supermarket, whose produce section is well-liked. Bravo shares a shopping center with Jenny’s Caribbean Bistro, a restaurant known for its Haitian food. Frank’s Italian is another hotspot in the area, one that’s been open since 1972. Frank’s is down the street from stores including Family Dollar and Dollar General and chain restaurants that include Subway and Checkers. Lake Forest is also home to Annunciation Catholic Parish and Korean Catholic Church.City gets spooky for Halloween
West Park hosts a variety of holiday-themed events each year. The list ranges from the Halloween Spooktacular at McTyre Park to an annual Mother’s Day brunch. There’s also an annual back-to-school supplies giveaway in August at City Hall.Lake Forest Elementary offers a jumpstart on sports

Another of the amenities within walking distance for people here is Water Tower Park. “It’s definitely one of the sights there for that area,” says Isael Prieto, owner and broker at Able CRE, and a South Florida native. This well-kept park features a covered playground area and a good bit of open field space. Pembroke Park Preserve is another, bigger option for outdoor time, in the neighboring town of Pembroke Park. This spot is popular for walks. Those looking for a beach day can follow Hallandale Beach Boulevard east to places like South City Beach Park, 4.5 miles away.Hitting Interstate 95 is a breeze
