White Plains Public Schools earn high marks

White Plains Public Schools, which gets an A from Niche, serves the area. Students here are entered into a lottery system to determine which elementary school they will attend. The system considers parents’ school picks and available space. Ridgeway Elementary School, which gets an A-minus, is closest to Gedney Meadows. White Plains Middle School earns an A-minus and has two campuses. Students go to the Eastview campus for sixth grade and Highlands campus for seventh and eighth grades. White Plains High School also gets an A-minus and hosts the annual Tri-State Engineering EXPO, which helps students form connections with colleges and businesses in the field.

Commuters use the Hutchinson River Parkway and public transportation

Commuters heading south on the Hutchinson River Parkway can reach Manhattan in 45 to 90 minutes depending on traffic. The White Plains train station is 3 miles away and offers service to Grand Central Terminal in just over 40 minutes on the Harlem Line. Bee-Line buses are synced with the train, and residents can catch a bus along Mamaroneck Avenue to get to the station in 15 minutes. White Plains Hospital is 2 miles north, and the Westchester County Airport is 8 miles north using Interstate 684. John F. Kennedy International Airport is 29 miles south on I-678. The Ridgeway Nature Trail, less than a mile from Gedney Meadows, is just over half a mile long and features several bridges and views of the surrounding rivers and trees. Westchester Hills Golf Club borders the neighborhood and offers its members an 18-hole course, a pool, clubhouse and tennis courts.
