Small community with local amenities near Allentown
Wilson is one of several boroughs surrounding the city of Easton in eastern Pennsylvania, with New York City and Philadelphia both about 75 miles away and the city of Allentown about 16 miles away. In Wilson, residents can experience the history of the borough and surrounding areas through annual festivals and connect with fellow residents due to the borough’s size. “Wilson is a very small community, but they have their own school district, police department and fire department,” says Gina Pretopapa, who has been in real estate for over 25 years and is currently a Realtor with Re/Max Unlimited Real Estate. The borough is also home to St. Luke’s Hospital – Easton Campus, while the neighborhood itself receives a crime score of 4 from the CAP Index.
Wilson Borough was first formed as a township in 1913 and changed to a borough in the 1020s.

Foursquares and twins lining the roads
With a median price of $235,000, homes in Wilson primarily consist of American Foursquares, bungalows and brick twin homes lining the streets, although a few split-levels and Queen Anne’s can also be found. While most homes are single-family residences, some Foursquares have been transformed into two separate units. Twin homes, whether they are brick or foursquares, can start around $180,000 and reach $250,000. Bungalows and Foursquares start about $230,000 and reach $270,000. A Queen Anne home can cost about $270,000 while a split-level can reach $350,000. “It’s an affordable area,” says Pretopapa. “People can buy investment properties or starter homes for first-time buyers.” Homes tend to be closer together, with more length than width to the property. Streets can be filled with cars, as most homes either back up to an alley that may or may not have parking sports. With roads lined out in a grid pattern, residents can also walk to amenities and necessities, such as restaurants and schools.

Greek festival, live bands and library events
Throughout the summer, Wilson has a Summer Concert Series featuring local bands. The series all take place at the Meuser Park Band Shell, within Meuser Park, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sundays. Additionally, the season usually begins with the local school bands performing. “There are plenty of churches in the area that do festivals and bake sales,” Pretopapa says. The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church has a bi-annual Greek Festival with traditional Greek dancing and food, while neighboring Easton has the Easton Heritage Day on July 7th to celebrate the local and country’s history with reenactments. The Mary Meuser Memorial Library will have game night after school every Wednesday for students, as well as a knitting and/or crocheting club for beginners and experts.
