What life is like in Franklin Plantation

Franklin Plantation is small, but it’s located near several of Worcester's hotspots. The hilly neighborhood is a short drive from Downtown Worcester, with entertainment venues like the Palladium and DCU Center, as well as Shrewsbury Street, the city’s dining district. Plus, everyday amenities and large outdoor spaces are within 2 miles. Closer to home, residents live in quaint Craftsman-style cottages or rent rooms in historic triple-deckers, and from sidewalk-lined streets, views of Worcester poke through the trees.

Franklin Plantation’s housing at a glance

Franklin Plantation features a wide variety of historic housing, from single-family Craftsman-style homes to Worcester’s signature triple-decker multifamily properties. “These buildings are being restored beautifully,” says Christine Najem, owner and CEO of Cedarwood Realty, who has lived in Worcester for more than two decades. Properties maintain their historic character, still, many have seen updated kitchens, electrical systems and roofs in recent years. While most Franklin Plantation residents are renters, prices typically range from the low $200,000s to the high $400,000s for single-family homes, from the high $100,000s to the low $300,000s for condos and from the low $500,000s to just over $1 million for multifamily properties.
