One of Youngstown's oldest neighborhoods
Situated 3 miles north of downtown Youngstown, North Heights sets itself apart from much of the surrounding neighborhoods with its sense of historic preservation. Estates that once housed the industrial elites of northeast Ohio's booming steel production age now host the fresh memories and new faces of a younger generation. Visitors ride through the historic district just to watch out the window and pick out their favorite homes. This architectural beauty combines lower-than-average real estate prices and an active local community to create a very popular area among first-time homeowners and young professionals.

Historic homes in many styles
North Heights has an eclectic sense of style, with a wide variety of designs to draw in visitors and potential residents. Tudor and Colonial homes stand side-by-side with more contemporary designs like American Foursquare, Bungalow and Cape Cod. "It's a historic area, and they keep up with it," says Erica Winner-Sauceman, who's served the area with Keller Williams since 2020. "You have old charm and custom-built homes. Some have three fireplaces or old boiler systems: pieces of history you rarely see anymore." Well-worn sidewalks crisscross residential zones beneath the shade of mature oak and birch trees. Lawns are standard, though they grow increasingly modest in the southern reaches of the neighborhood. The area's historic nature means that many homes will require some level of renovation, which means anything from a new coat of paint to a new roof! Prices range from the low $20,000s for centennial homes needing serious restoration to the mid $300,000s for well-maintained estates on vast lawns.
