It's home to the Fellows Riverside Garden, a botanical oasis with a landscape of colorful blossoms.
Students attend Youngstown City Public Schools
Kirkmere Elementary School teaches kindergarten through eighth grade and engages students' families with special school events and volunteer opportunities. Chaney High School prides itself on its Chaney Cowboys athletic teams, with programs ranging from rugby to wrestling. Both schools have an overall score of C-minus on Niche but scored an A for diversity. These schools are part of the Youngstown City School District, but there are also charter and private school options as well.Getting around Oak Hill and beyond
Interstate 680 runs along the northern and eastern sides of Oak Hill and takes residents around Youngstown's center. There are also bus stops throughout the community for those needing public transportation. When residents want more, they can drive 5 miles down I-680 to Boardman, which has big box stores like Target and Walmart. Residents can have medical necessities treated at Saint Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, about 2 miles away. The Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport is about 15 miles away. Mahoning Avenue is just north of Oak Hill and houses the nearest shopping options. Supply shops, convenience stores, professional services and creative studios can all be found on this road. After shopping, residents can take a meal break with a cheeseburger at Youngstown Maennerchor or head further west on the avenue for seafood at Little Lou's. There's also the 20 Federal Place shopping center across the river with various shops and a food court.The shopping center is in the middle of Downtown Youngstown, only a 5-minute drive from Oak Hill across the Mahoning River. This growing town offers many activities and attractions for locals, like the Roger & Gloria Jones Children's Center for Science & Technology and the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre. Sports fans flock to the Covelli Center, home to the Youngstown Phantoms hockey team, and a multipurpose arena for live concerts. Residents can celebrate the city's culture with festivals from the Simply Slavic Heritage Festival to the Mahoning Valley Irish Festival, all of which include music and locally made food.
