Von Elm
Traditional homes along residential roads
Traditional and ranch-style homes with attached garages and tall, cedar privacy fencing around their backyards are the norm in Von Elm. “Most of these homes were built in the ‘80s or ‘90s, and some are updated, but some haven’t been touched since they were built, and they still look great,” Mosshart says. The median lot size in the neighborhood is less than a quarter acre, and the average house is about 1,900 square feet. Most single-family homes sell between $200,000 and $380,000, depending on square footage and lot size. Some residences have mandatory membership in a homeowners association and monthly fees between $33 and $100.Yukon Public Schools receive high marks
Von Elm students attend schools in the Yukon Public Schools system. Youngsters between preschool and third grade go to Ranchwood Elementary, which has an A grade on Niche. A-minus-rated Lakeview Intermediate School serves students between fourth and sixth grades, while seventh-and eighth-grades go to Yukon Middle, graded A-minus. Yukon High School, which has a B grade, offers dozens of extracurricular clubs and activities, including an aerospace and aeronautics club and National Honor Society.U.S. Route 66 provides commuting convenience
Aside from its atmosphere, competitive prices and strong schools, Von Elm is sought after because of its location. “It’s located right off of Route 66, and it’s close to the Kilpatrick Turnpike as well, so it’s a great location,” Mosshart says. Residents can take 66 about 17 miles to central Oklahoma City. Even closer, Main Street Yukon is lined with an array of local restaurants and shops. Main Street is about 4 miles away via 66. Integris Health Canadian Valley Hospital, which offers outpatient and surgery services, is about 5 miles from Von Elm.Locally grown produce at Lakeview Market
With Main Street Yukon within a few miles, residents are just a quick drive from their favorite restaurants. There are also options along 66. For instance, Summer Moon Coffee is known for its sweet cream, which they call “creamy, dreamy moon milk.” For locally grown produce, jams and other groceries, Lakeview Market is a little over 2 miles away. The market also has a petting zoo that’s popular with families, and food trucks are nearby. A Walmart Neighborhood Market is just beyond Von Elm's southwestern border.Waterside fun at Lake Overholser
In addition to the many conveniences around Von Elm, the neighborhood is a few miles from Lake Overholser. Along the seven miles of shoreline are boat ramps, fishing docks and picnic areas. Amenities at Route 66 Park, on the lake’s western bank, include a playground with colorful climbing structures, slides and many swings. Chisholm Trail Park, about 4 miles away, draws residents from around town for its annual events, such as Christmas in the Park light displays and the July 4th Freedom Festival.
