Country Estates
Neighborhood in Yuma, Arizona
Yuma CountyLate 20th-century homes with spacious lots
Set along sidewalk-lined streets dotted with palm trees, Country Estates' homes are mostly late 20th-century ranch-style houses; some have Spanish Revival stylings, like terracotta-tiled roofs and stucco exteriors. Most of these homes have three or four bedrooms, as well as short concrete driveways leading to attached garages or carports. Lots are landscaped with either grassy lawns or low-water rock gardens, and are typically between 10,000 and 14,000 square feet, larger than the average Yuma lot of 6,000 square feet. Prices range from $300,000 for a three-bedroom to $500,000 for a four-bedroom version with a custom pool and covered patio.Local kids pursue their passions at Yuma public schools
Local kids can start at Ronald Reagan Elementary, rated C by Niche, before moving on to Centennial Middle, rated C-plus; at the latter, students can join special-interest clubs like chess, physics, drama and more. The B-minus-rated Cibola High offers career and technical education courses like digital photography, automotive technology and engineering.Getting around Yuma

Downtown Yuma and Interstate 8 are about 3 miles northeast, and San Luis and the U.S.-Mexico border are about 23 miles south via Route 95. While most residents drive to get around Yuma, the neighborhood's sidewalk-lined streets are pedestrian friendly, and Yuma County Area Transit buses stop along Avenue B. The Yuma Regional Medical Center is about 3 miles southeast, and Yuma International Airport is 6 miles southeast.Sports and fishing at local green spaces
Golfers can hit the links at the 9-hole, public Ironwood Golf Course, less than a mile northwest and open year-round for all skill levels. The 15-acre Yuma Valley Park, about 2 miles north, regularly hosts community soccer games and practices on its regulation-size soccer pitches. For families with children, Azar recommends the 110-acre West Wetlands Park, 3 miles northeast. “West Wetlands Park is awesome for kids," Azar says, "with lots of games and a little pond.” Residents can fish in the pond for catfish, trout and largemouth trout while kids enjoy the castle-themed Stewart Vincent Wolfe Creative Playground, which community volunteers helped to build.Local shopping and dining within a mile
Residents head about a mile south to the Plaza Del Rio shopping center for groceries at Food City, and chain restaurants like Round Table Pizza. Along Avenue B, locals might start their morning with a coffee, pastry or breakfast burrito from Arizona Donuts. Across the street, Azar recommends Tomo Sushi for its specialty rolls, including the Tomo Special—a baked roll with crab, avocado and shrimp with crunch tempura. A mile north, there’s also shopping and dining along West 8th Street, including Walmart and Duron’s Restaurante y Cantina, a popular spot for authentic Mexican cuisine, handmade cocktails and live music on Fridays. For a night out, downtown is about 3 miles northeast, where folks enjoy locally brewed beer on the patio at Prison Hill Brewing Company.Annual events throughout the year in Yuma
The annual Yuma County Fair is held in April at the Yuma County Fairgrounds, 6 miles southeast. The fair has been a city tradition for over 70 years and includes carnival rides, a demolition derby and live music from local performers. There's also a year-round schedule of annual celebrations in downtown Yuma, about 3 miles northeast, like the BBQ & Brew Festival in February and the Dorothy Young Electric Light Parade in December, where decorated floats and costumed dancers march through downtown celebrating local history and Christmas.
