Nestled in the toe of this boot-shaped state, Mandeville, Louisiana is a growing city with a lot to offer. Just across Lake Pontchartrain from New Orleans, the largest city in the state, ensures all the big city amenities are nearby even though Mandeville barely breaks the 10,000 population line. Homes run the gamut from 19th century colonials to modern ranches and split-levels. Families of every size can find a place here, with homes available with 3 to 6 bedrooms.

Mandeville was incorporated in 1840, so there is a lot of history to be found in and around the city. One of the most entertaining historic spots is the Dew Drop Jazz & Social Hall which was built in 1885 and was a hot spot for jazz music in its time. Though it closed for a while in the mid 1900's, since 2000 there have been more events each year. A city with such a long history understandably has great antique shops as well. Preservation of old buildings and wildlife is important in Mandeville, which is why it is also home to the largest certified southern live oak tree named the Seven Sisters Oak.

There are plenty of activities in Mandeville, both indoors and outside. With Lake Pontchartrain just outside the city, there are some boating companies available for sailing tours or trips across the lake to New Orleans. There's also the Northlake Nature Center which is always growing and has plenty of nature walks, bridges and overlooks. When you're ready to go inside, there's paintball, shopping and nightlife to choose from, even a gaming cafe. When you're ready to refuel, there's more than 50 fun restaurants to choose from serving anything from ribs to salads, pizza to custard, and a tea house. There's always something to do in Mandeville, and when you need a change of scenery, New Orleans is just across the lake for a quick trip.
