Situated between marshlands and the slow-flowing Bayou Lafourche is the small, unincorporated community of Lockport Heights. Most of the northern section consists of farmlands and homes branching off Highway 1. The southern end has local storefronts and more houses. Melinda Punch, the owner of Punch's Seafood Market, says this is a "quiet and close-knit community" supporting its local businesses. "We've been at the same location for 30 years.
