Why Live in Pavilion Park

There was a time when the only thing that came from the ground in Midland’s northeast side was oil. Today, neighborhoods like Pavilion Park are sprouting up among the hulking pumpjacks. While some of Pavilion Park is dedicated to light industrial and two apartment complexes, most of the community is residential. Streets are lined with sidewalks and newly built brick homes, which sit in clusters among the acres of oil fields. Single-family homes in Pavilion Park are New Traditional style, built after 2019. They feature brick facades, two-car garages, manicured front lawns and fenced-in backyards. There is an HOA fee, but it’s generally around $20 a month. Properties don’t go on the market often—only three have sold in the last 12 months—but when they do, prices typically range from the low $300,000s to the low $500,000s. Kids attend General Tommy Franks Elementary, which rates a B on Niche, C-rated Goddard Jr. High, and C-minus-rated Midland High. The city also offers Midland Freshman High, which rates a C and is open to ninth graders only. Students can start high school there or attend Midland High for all four years.
