Milwaukee is the largest city in the state of Wisconsin and the fifth largest city in the Midwestern United States. The homes and apartments available range from one to two bedrooms, with a price range to fit any preference. There are some units that are very affordable, and most of them fall around $150 per square foot. Some of the apartment units are very modern and luxurious and will accommodate those looking to spend a pretty penny on a pretty place.

Milwaukee is divided into a large number of neighborhoods and subdivisions. Beerline B, which runs along the north side of Milwaukee River, is one of these. Formerly the home of the Beerline B railroad spur, it is now an emerging residential area. At the lower east side of town, north of Brady Street, is East Village, which makes up a large part of the Brewers Hill Historic District. Adjacent to the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, you will find Murray Hill, a primarily residential neighborhood with lots of bungalows, duplexes and apartment buildings. There are lots of student renters here but there’s also a good number of long-term residents, giving the neighborhood a good balance between a permanent population and a fluctuating variant population. You might also check out Riverwest, an older neighborhood with its own neighborhood association, community newspaper, and grocery co-op.

Milwaukee is a major economic center of Wisconsin and enjoys a thriving economy. In 2007, three Milwaukee companies were honored for manufacturing excellence in the Wisconsin Manufacturer of the Year competition. These rewards were given to Wisconsin Plating Works Inc., Racine, Brady Corporation, and Astronautics Corporation of America. Six other Fortune 500 companies make their international headquarters in Milwaukee. These are Johnson Controls, Northwestern Mutual, Manpower, Rockwell Automation, Harley-Davidson, and Joy Global. Manpower Inc. was recognized in 2009 by Fortune magazine as a leader in the temporary help industry, and Northwestern Mutual received recognition from the same magazine as a leader in life and health insurance.
