With over 11,000 residents, Old North Milwaukee continues to grow. In recent years, the neighborhood's revitalization efforts have included playground renovations and a new public library. "There's a definite sense of community and civic pride in Old North Milwaukee," says Will Hansen of the Villard Avenue Business Improvement District. "People are excited to get the neighborhood back to what it once was." Old North Milwaukee benefits from direct access to public transportation as well as parks. “Multiple train routes once ran through the neighborhood's center, causing noise issues for residents. But, according to Realtor Sandy Ertel, who sells homes in Old North Milwaukee with RE/MAX Lakeside, only one of those tracks is still active. Streets in the neighborhood are lined with trees and sidewalks, and some backyards are fenced in. Most homes, however, do not have a garage. The northern section of the neighborhood has early 20th-century bungalows, the most common architectural style found in Old North Milwaukee. These often feature brick bases, small, covered porches and jerkinhead roofs in the classic Milwaukee style. There are various Tudor Revival-style houses throughout the
