Gateway, located about 15 miles north of Seattle, is one of six neighborhoods in Mountlake Terrace, a community established for World War II veterans and officially incorporated in 1954. Annual events near Gateway include the July 3 fireworks show at Ballinger Park, the December tree lighting at city hall, and the long-running Arts of the Juried Art Show at Mountlake Terrace Public Library.
