Dalzell
The Village of Dalzell got its start in the early 1900s as the No. 5 Mine Camp. Subsequently, it was named for Samuel M. Dalzell, the manager of the Spring Valley Coal Company. The mine closed in 1923. Spring Creek runs through Dalzell, and the banks of the Illinois River are about 5 miles to the south. Dalzell is mostly in Bureau County, though
