Ridgecrest is a small military town in the Mojave Desert, near the China Lake Naval Air Warfare Center, with about 28,000 residents. Houses here are mostly single-story ranch- and Spanish-style homes at lower prices than much of California, with easy access to hiking, off-roading and stargazing.
