This region is also home to the Elephant Butte Dam, a major source of irrigation for farming within the state.

New Mexico offers visitors and residents a wide array of amusements, attractions and things to do. If you and your family enjoy art, then a visit to the Deming Luna Mimbres Museum is in order. Unique by the Mimbres Indians is on display there. The National Hispanic Cultural Center and an international balloon festival provide fun for everyone in Albuquerque. There are several professional sports teams in New Mexico including a Triple-A baseball team and an indoor football team. The Santa Fe Opera House also offers entertainment for New Mexico residents.
