There is an extensive range of foreclosure listings in the state of New Mexico, with houses available well under the $100,000 mark. From simple 1-bedroom bungalows to sprawling 5-bedroom mission style abodes, there are amazing real estate steals up for grabs. Foreclosures are currently listed in over two dozen cities within the Land of Enchantment.
New Mexico is a breathtaking state, with scenery found nowhere else on the planet. Full of national forests, deserts and cities full of character, this is a truly special region. Millions of acres of land are protected by the national government to be enjoyed by the adventurous hiker and explorer. New Mexico offers rock climbing, spelunking, rafting and camping opportunities galore, and many of these adventures can be accomplished in one trip. Carlsbad Caverns, White Sands National Monument and the Rio Grande Gorge are just a handful of sights to see. If urban recreation is your preference, the cities of Albuquerque and Santa Fe are cultural meccas with bustling arts districts and Southwestern fare to enjoy.
The Land of Enchantment has bewitched humans for thousands of years, with settlements dating back to the Paleo-Indian times. By the 15th century, the area had been settled by the Pueblo, Navajo, Apache and Ute peoples. Santa Fe, on the southernmost tip of the Rockies, was settled in 1608 by Spanish traders. Over the next century, most of New Mexico would fall under Spanish rule. After the Mexican War of Independence, most of what is now New Mexico was handed over to Mexico in 1821. Not until the middle of the 19th Century did New Mexico become part of the United States. The 1920s saw an oil boom develop, and oil was still produced regularly until 2002. Still a state with one of the largest Native American populations in the country, New Mexico's turbulent history has morphed it into a unique and beautiful gem.
