Glance around at Lower Hill’s ongoing and recently completed construction and one will see a neighborhood undergoing a rebirth. This enclave, near the heart of Pittsburgh, is the subject of an in-progress redevelopment project that's helping to maximize the space and reverse neglect. “This is very much a neighborhood in transition,” says Jared Bundy, senior manager for content development with Visit Pittsburgh. “The area just had its newest skyscraper open, the FNB tower, Phase 1 of renovation of Lower Hill district.” Condos are the predominant form of housing in Lower Hill, dominated by the Chatham Tower. Chatham Tower, which is across Washington Place from PPG Paints Arena, dates back to 1964. Chatham houses dozens of units, some as big as 3,600 square feet. Units in Chatham start at about 600 square feet, with one bedroom and one bathroom. Price tags here start around $120,000 and can reach $275,000.
