Pleasanton is a small town of about 10,000 people located about 25 miles south of San Antonio, colloquially known as "the official birthplace of the cowboy." U.S. Highway 281, Texas State Highway 97 and Interstate 37 connect residents to San Antonio, with San Antonio International Airport around 45 miles north. The Atascosa Cowboy Connect public transit system links Pleasanton to nearby Jourdanton and Poteet. Most area homes were built between the 1950s and 1980s and include bungalows, ranch-style homes and traditional houses.
