The Pascagoula River basin is one of the last unspoiled waterways in the United States. The boat ramp is one-quarter mile south of where the Leaf and Chickasawhay Rivers converge to form the Pascagoula which flows 80 miles and empties into the Gulf of Mexico. Common fishes to catch along the Pascagoula include bass, crappie, bream, and catfish. Other popular activities along the river include boating, kayaking, and camping. For more recreational opportunities, the DeSoto National Forest with more than one-half million acres of public lands is just five miles away. These lands are popular for hunting, camping, trail riding, fishing, and canoeing.
