This region of Penobscot County has a good population of big game and upland birds. The neighboring town of Lakeville Plantation has a plethora of water from small ponds to extremely large lakes. This is the headwaters of the St Croix River with some of Maine's best cold fisheries and wilderness canoeing and boating. The local snowmobile and ATV club maintains hundreds of miles of groomed trails many accessible from the land.
