The wood burning insert in the stone fireplace heats the house. The seller said it is super insulated and has a steel liner. There is a drilled well for the house, the cistern is just for the pasture area. The root cellar was also used as a hunting blind; bring a flashlight to check it out. It is located West of the house past the garden with the opening on the South side of the hill. The home is a typical farm house with large kitchen and dining room, there is a main floor bath, laundry and another room used as the summer canning kitchen. The tall cabinet in the kitchen was converted into a closet for jackets. The dining room has several southern facing windows; in the Spring the scent of lilacs fill the house. There is electric baseboard for supplemental heat that has not been needed since the house was re-insulated. There is also a propane furnace in the Michigan basement. The garden has Strawberry, Raspberry and Rhubarb plants, the fruit trees are cherry, apple, plum and pear. The hardwood floors in this home were from the old township hall.
