A few of the things you would love about this house include: > natural light pours in from the more than 30 windows; > the walk-out basement gives you the feeling of having two main floors; > the brick exterior always looks great, and it creates a sense of safety and permanence that is very reassuring; > having five different flooring types (carpet, hardwood, ceramic tile, laminate, and vinyl) make every area seem unique and appealing in a different way; > we have neighbors across one street, and a neighbor on our east side, but across the dead end street on our west side is an empty lot, and behind us (north) a woods--so we enjoy both nature and neighbors, and the convenience of a large corner lot; > the wood fireplace is perfect for a cold winter's day (the kids also enjoy the sledding hill just across the street), as is the ability to open the rec(reation) room door and get into a warm car in the garage; > in the spring hundreds of birds return to nest in nearby trees and enjoy our birdfeeder and birdbath, and by late spring, the fawns and their mothers venture out of the woods and across our back yard; and > flowering trees in the yard and neighborhood make spring here a joy, and the tool shed in the back is very handy for yardwork, gardening, and storing outdoor furniture. Size: the house is bigger than the numbers might make it appear. Inside the four walls and including both levels, there are almost 3,00 square feet of bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen/living room/and dining room, laundry room, shop, garage, storage room, and rec room. Location: our quiet, small neighborhood is less than an hour's walk from downtown and Indiana University, only a few minutes walk from South High School and the B-Line bike/walking trail, and similarly close to restaurants, banks, grocery stores, and an elementary school. The house is almost sixty years old, and occasionally parts need replacement or modernization. Some of our improvement to the house during the seven years we have been here include: rewiring the circuit breaker box, adding several inches of insulation to the attic, replacing the counter-tops and sink and range in the kitchen, changing the dining room flooring from carpet to ceramic tile, retiling the shower in the master bath, putting in a moisture-prevention system in the basement, and replacing the gutters. Several of the dozen trees we planted have grown up beautifully!
