It began it's life as a one-room school house named Lake Number 3. It was located at Lossing corner, Lake Township which is about 4 miles southwest of Sloan. After Lake Number 3 was closed it was sold to the Salix American Legion and moved to downtown Salix sometime in the late 1940s. When the Salix Legion merged with the Sergeant Bluff Legion, it was purchased and moved to its current location in about 1985. A room was added on to the south side in about 1991.
