This house was originally built around 1890 and was moved from Cartersville to its present site in the historic Lake Swamp Community in 1997. It was placed in a position to absorb morning sun in the winter and for the side porch (now screened) to face the sunset. The house was taken down to the frame and a master suite and sunroom were added to the original footprint. With all new plumbing and wiring and just the right contractor, over the next few years the house was rebuilt on the interior. Bathrooms and large closets were added and a few walls were removed to facilitate air flow, traffic flow and light; the kitchen area was enlarged and a pantry, bonus room and floored attic for storage were added. With four bedrooms and four bathrooms, in 2003 the house was ready for occupancy. FLOORS: The floors in the majority of the house are beautifully refinished 2”x 6” tongue and groove fir. Ceramic or marble tile cover the kitchen, bathrooms, and utility room. Legend has it that the 2x6 flooring was salvaged from a cold war missile facility. KITCHEN, UTILITY ROOM AND APPLIANCES The dishwasher was replaced in December 2019 and is efficient and amazingly quiet. The stove is dual fuel, with propane gas burners and grill and an electric oven; it has down draft vent. The sink and faucets are about 10 years old and the on-demand gas water heater was installed in 2020. The washer and dryer were installed in 2003 and all appliances work well. The oak hutch/cupboard is an antique with a sugar dispenser and flour sifter and holds baking supplies and adds counter space. The dish cupboard to the left of the refrigerator is made of old heart pine and was custom built for that spot. These two cupboards and all appliances may be included if wanted. FANS All rooms and most porches have ceiling fans and may be reversed to pull air up or down. DINING and LIVING areas. This area had been 3 small rooms and walls were removed to have open concept living area. Original fireplaces to the house were unsafe and were removed. One preserved mantle is over the free-standing gas fireplace. BATHROOMS The four bathrooms are each attached to a bedroom and one is also open to the hall. Showers are in all bathrooms and master also has a vintage claw foot tub. Several sinks are vintage farm house drainboard sinks.
