Circa 1914, the largest commercial building in downtown Anderson was originally built as a hardware and dry goods store before the Depression and has been known over the years as the old Dairy Supply, the Hurst Hardware Store, and Apolonia Building. Wickey Motor (est 1929) used the second floor of the building to store cars for a period of time by way of the hand operated lift/elevator which is still functional today. For a period of time during the Depression years the upstairs was used as a rooming house.
