As was written by the great-granddaughter of William C Kent (one of the founders of Wyncote), "at the end of a dirt road where it met civilization, my Father built three homes". The Crawfords (a physician at Jefferson Hospital) were the first owners. Classic in scale, it sits elevated from the road and has one of the most enchanting "secret" gardens surrounded by stone walls, a wisteria-covered patio, terraced perennial beds and even a small pond surrounded by Mercer tiles. A stone-arched screened porch catches the afternoon sun & breezes. Inside this classic 1926 home is the traditional Colonial lay-out. The right side is occupied by the living room, which has a large stone fireplace, French doors to the screened porch and a bank of three large casement windows looking out upon the street. The left side incorporates the dining room that also has built-in cabinets for storage. The large kitchen is a classic combination of period touches and modern conveniences. The solid Cherry cabinets with copper hinges & pulls were exceptionally crafted and remain as one of the vintage touches along with a washboard sink of stainless steel. The remaining counters were upgraded to granite and all the appliances are stainless steel as well. There are two east-facing windows that are the perfect place to grow African Violets, Holiday cacti (I can't use the real name!) & Orchids! Tucked at the rear of the kitchen (with access to the rear patios & gardens) is the powder room & a rear coat closet. The entire basement is finished to provide additional living space. A perimeter drain system was installed by the previous Owner. Two distinct areas plus the laundry room occupy the basement, adding over 300 sq. ft. of living space. It is currently set-up as a TV/Work space, a playroom and an office. There is even a large "chalkboard" wall for those art projects! Upstairs, all 5 of the bedrooms are large. The master bedroom occupies the same space as the living room downstairs, facing west (no morning light in your eyes!) and has two large closets.
