This unique Bayou front home is a one of a kind. It was built in 1960 by the reknowned architect, John Randal McDonald. Although, Mr. McDonald did not study with Frank Lloyd Wright, his homes share the same attributes such as strong horizontal lines and ground-hugging shapes. The Orientally inspired architecture of the home is full of his signature finishes such lustrous mahogany, window walls and interesting stone. Full advantage is taken of the glorious views of Bayou Texar, as you can see the water from every room. A large Terrazzo deck runs the length of the house taking full advantage of the scenery. Original Terrazzo tiles are in main rooms of the house as well. This is a 3 bedroom 21/2 bath home. It has a large kitchen with stainless steel counter tops that were designed in one continuous piece. In keeping with the oriental design of the house, the owner personally designed all the Shoji screens that are accents as well as the closet doors through out. The staircase that goes to the third bedroom and bath is made of solid butcher block. The front doors were custom designed of solid mahogony. The door handles, as pictured, are beautiful solid brass fish. Each window has the oriental influance and carries the theme of the front entryway. Custom Screens in each window allow you to pull them down easily when needed. This home is too unusual to describe with words so do take the time to look at the Virtual tour and still photographs. In the past few months, the Bayou has been dredged along the shoreline to make it easier for larger boats to approach the docks.
