The entrance is raised and looks out West to see incredible sunsets over the natural Sonoran desert every evening with silhouettes of the many saguaro cactus on the property. Each major room has 12ft ceilings and provides unobstructed views of the Sonoran desert and Superstition Mountains.

The house is positioned on 100yds from the Federal boundary of Tonto National Forest at an altitude of 2000ft and in particular has detailed views of Superstition's Flat Irons range of mountains that stretch over 5000ft high. Access to hiking trails in the Superstition are easily found within 400yds of the property. The house is subject to CC&Rs which for example limits houses in the neighborhood to one story, requires all properties to keep their designs in line with the natural habitat, and does not permit horses. Each parcel is 2.5acres (100yds x 100yds).

Each major room of the house has ventilated windows on at least two opposite sides so that a natural breeze can be generated if air conditioning is not utilized. The over 20 large picture windows (6ft x 6ft, 6ft x 8ft, 8ft x 8ft) have large sliding smaller windows positioned under the picture window to promote natural ventilation should air conditioning not be used. There are two air conditioning units, one for each wing of the house. Both air conditioning units contribute to the great room and living TV/media and entrance areas.

The kitchen is designed to be separate from the main living quarters of the house and is oversized to accommodate TV/media and living features. The kitchen is open spaced, with 7 picture windows to view sunset every evening both to the West as well as to watch the color of the face of Superstition Mountain turn from golden yellow to deep crimson at sunset. The kitchen is laid out for a oversized large wooden classic kitchen farm table and contains a slump block arch for the stove/cooker with ventilation. The walk-in double-sided larder is large enough not only to contain supplies for food, but also kitchen equipment, wine, and other items.

The house is positioned at the high point of the property and foundations go down to a solid rock base. The front entrance faces South East.

Rock feature spa:

The rock feature spa is based on a Japanese design to provide natural massage of the head and shoulder from falling water. The rock feature is custom designed using natural rocks from the property. It contains 2 seats and can accommodate up to 6 persons at one time. The spa is not heated, but is powered from a pump house located behind the main waterfall. There are 5 major waterfalls that can be controlled via an automatic timer.

Courtyard:

The courtyard contains two hand carved Mexican fountains, one a sun face, and the other a classic 3 tier. The courtyard has been laid with a hand designed mosaic of red, green and black naturally shaped stones to create 3 large flowers. Each of the flowers are aligned to the sun face fountain to give the perspective of depth to the courtyard from each side of the house that surrounds the courtyard.

Wrap around verandah:

The house is custom designed with a complete wrap around verandah so that radiative sunlight does not directly reach the many windows (over 20 large picture windows) of the house in summer. The verandah is designed that during the cooler winter months, when the sun traverses a lower trajectory in the sky, sunlight does reach some of the window to provide radiative warming for the house. The verandah is nearly 3m deep and provides an ideal space for morning coffee, afternoon drinks, and evening dinner in any direction, as can be seen by the beautiful views in all directions from the property. Each of the posts of the verandah are composed of rough-cut fir wood and treated for the environment.

Roof:

The roof of the house is composed of concrete tile for long lasting and natural coloring in the desert environment.

Walls:

The walls of the house are composed of natural colored slump block with a washed mortar finish to emulate a Mexican style hacienda. The walls are insulated with wide wooden studs to create a thickness of approximately 1ft to emulate traditional hacienda walls.
