Although there is not enough documented details about the rich history of this specific property, what the seller was told is that the small shed was used at one time by the Justice of the peace. Some where between 1730 and 1740 settlements became to be made in the Province of Maryland. Early settlers recognized that Sam's Creek, a tributary of Little Pipe Creek, was a desirable location mainly because the abundance of timber to build structures and water that could be used to power grist mills. The village of Sam's Creek was a thriving enough to have warranted a post office, general store and the multiple mills that supported the villagers. It was in 1833 William Cost Johnson sponsored a bill, which by vast majority, passed through both branches of the Legislature, creating Carroll County, and it's Westernmost boundary, Sam's Creek. Major General John Sedgwick led his procession of 18,000 men through this area on his march to Gettysburg.
