Pilots come! Gated Aviation Community w/2 paved 2000 ft private maintained runways + an adjacent grass strip. Awesome views of Glacier & spectacular commute location. Larger private lot. Designed for entertaining. Large open LVR & DR area w/high vaulted ceiling. Gorgeous Cherry cabinets granite counter tops & Beautiful Master Suite w/magnificent view. Downstairs is 2nd Mst Suite/Mother In LawLeaving our gorgeous home is vey bitter-sweet. We absolutely love living here but we miss our children who live in the south. From the moment we wake up and see the mountains and the Knik Glacier from our bedroom window, until we go to bed at night Alaska surrounds us. Eagles soar by and often rest in the trees outside our windows. When our neighbors have guests from out of state, they bring them to sit on our deck or in our sunroom to enjoy the view. There truly is beauty out every one of our many windows. Perennials are popping up everywhere in the many tiered flower beds. The trail through the woods leads you down to the lake just below the house. Through a neighborhood gate, there is access to the Matanuska river and many trails. Our dogs love to go down with us in our Ranger so they can run and play in the streams. They have even caught a few fish. We get the occasional moose wandering through the back yard but mostly down by the river. To sit in the hot tub while snow falls on your face is a feeling like no other.
With this being an aviation community, it is fun to watch the planes coming and going. There are hangers and tie-downs available. However not everyone that lives here is a pilot. It's just a good, fun group of folks. Because this is a closed, private community, we feel extremely safe and don't really feel the need to lock our doors.
Enough about the wonders of our outdoor world. Just wait until you see the inside of our gorgeous home with it's grand, yet welcoming entrance. We want our home to have that "make yourself at home" feeling as well as feeling upscale and modern. The huge windows and open plan let in plenty of light. Visitors go on and on about how beautiful it is. It is a great home for hosting parties, as there are plenty of gathering spots. Coming from the South, we are grillers. After the first winter of grilling in the snow, we enclosed a portion of the huge deck to make a sunroom/cooking porch. With 2 exhaust fans and a hood over the grill, there is no problem with smoke coming in the house and we now grill year round.
We have updated all the door and cabinet hardware, as well as all of the light fixtures. There are plenty of closets and pantries for storage on every level. Since I am an interior decorator, there are many unique touches.
The walkout basement is the perfect mother-in-law apartment or teen area. With a beautifully tiled full bath, dining area, microwave, cabinets, closets and mini fridge, it is ready to move into. There is a den/bedroom area with a large wall of windows so it doesn't really feel like a basement at all.
Just beyond that is the utility area which has a long built in counter and tons of cabinets that make it the perfect spot for planting and crafting. There is even a utility sink. Then there is the huge indoor workshop that I currently utilize as a drapery workroom. With the walls lined with nice cabinetry and counters, it is perfect for organizing all of my sewing tools and materials. It could easily be turned into an extra bedroom. There is plenty of parking and storage in the three car garage.
We are truly going to miss living here but welcome our time with our children. We sincerely hope and believe that the new family will grow to love this home as much as we do.
