The property has a pond in the high side of the property. It collects rain water from the hill and collects it in the pond. The pond has clay on it so it doesn’t percolate into the sandy soil. Once the pond overflow, the water moves to a swale, which is a ditch made on contour (leveled) and that water stays there and slowly moves downhill providing moisture for the trees below, making possible to do dry farming in the future. On the mount holding this water there is an irrigation system for planting canopy trees, fruit trees or whatever. That irrigation system comes from the 2 tanks below where the water pump is locate. On summer days when the pond dries, you can use that water to keep whatever you plant on the mount alive. The pond water that goes to the swale does not accumulate in the tanks. If the swale overflows the water gets directed to the natural water spillage in the land, it just goes downhill.
