As of December 2017The ''Sleadd House'' is one of the premier Greek Revival houses in Shelby County. It was the centerpiece of a 2000 acre hemp plantation, built in 1858. It has been restored and maintained by a University of Virginia trained architect. The farm was given as a Revolutionary War land grant to Ezra Sleadd in the early 1800s. The family's first home was a large log house, with the logs later used to construct a barn after the 2-story ''T'' shaped brick masterpiece was built. The house remained in the Sleadd family for 110 years. Oak and poplar floors, tall ceilings, 7 working fireplaces, incredible millwork and much original glass will delight the architectural purist. The brick was ''fired'' on the place. It retains the Greek Revival portico supported by square posts, six-over-six windows, and pilasters at the front and rear corners of the main block and on either side of the entry. Long side porches stretch for the length of the house both upstairs and downstairs on the southwest side. There is even a traveler's room at the end of the upstairs porch. This unique and historically significant house with its convenient location lends itself to an easy Louisville commute. Seller will consider selling house and 7.5 acres for $550,000.
